Abstract
The scientific contribution of economists of Greek origin is in the first instance analysed through the
listing of articles in current periodicals of the Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) for the last 25 years.
The main lines of analyses are concentrated on the following variables: (a) time evolution compared with
the number of volumes appearing in JEL, (b) the language of the articles, (c) the contents classified
according to the main economic issues, and (d) the significance estimated according to the leading
economic journals.
