Extensive research into retail sales predictive models at the zip (postal area) district/zone, prestige mall (shopping centre) non-prestige mall, non-mall, metro (metropolitan area), non-metro and company-wide trade level was performed, with data supplied especially for this research by a major U.S. retail chain stores company which, wishing to remain anonymous, will be called subsequently Alpha Corporation. Detailed data were obtained for more than 200 retail department stores opened between 1958 and 1973.
