Focus and Scope

SPOUDAI is a peer-reviewed journal, publishing rigorous analytical papers, theoretical and empirical that deal with contemporary economic and business issues. It fosters both theoretical and quantitative contributions to Economics and Business. SPOUDAI not only serves as a link between theorists and practitioners, but also builds a bridge between economists and their colleagues in related fields. Contributions which make use of the methods of mathematics, statistics and operations research will be welcomed, provided the conclusions are factual and properly explained.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

SELF - ARCHIVING POLICY
This Journal permits authors to post items submitted to this journal on personal websites or institutional repositories both prior to and after publication. For "post-prints", authors should use the publisher's PDF version in order to credit its publication in the Journal.

Duties of Editors

Editors should:
• base their decisions to accept or reject a paper for publication upon the paper’s importance, originality and clarity, and the study’s validity and its relevance to the remit of the journal.
• support initiatives designed to reduce research and publication misconduct.
• maintain the integrity of the academic record.
• protect the confidentiality of individual information obtained in the course of research or professional interactions.
• take all reasonable steps to ensure the quality of the material they publish.
• assess the effects of their journal policies on author and reviewer behavior and revising policies, as required, to encourage responsible behavior and discourage misconduct.

Duties of Authors

Authors should:
• acknowledge that submitted work is original and has not been either published elsewhere in any language or submitted concurrently to more than one publication.
• present their results honestly and without fabrication, falsification or inappropriate data manipulation.
• describe their methods and present their findings clearly and unambiguously.
• represent the work of others accurately in citations as well as quotation and clearly indicate the data, text, figures or ideas originated by other researchers.
• check their publications carefully at all stages concerning calculations, data presentations, typescripts/submissions and proofs to ensure that methods and findings are reported accurately.
• alert the editor promptly if they discover an error in any submitted, accepted or published work.
• disclose all sources of research funding, including direct and indirect financial support, supply of equipment or materials, and other support (such as specialist statistical or writing assistance).

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers should:
• only agree to review manuscripts for which they have the subject expertise required to carry out a proper assessment.
• provide journals with personal and professional information that is accurate and a true representation of their expertise.
• respect the confidentiality of peer review and not reveal any details of a manuscript or its review, during or after the peer-review process, beyond those that are released by the journal.
• avoid using information obtained during the peer-review process for their own or any other person’s or organization’s advantage, or to disadvantage or discredit others.
• be objective and constructive in their reviews, refraining from being hostile or inflammatory and from making libellous or derogatory personal comments.
• refrain from allowing their reviews to be influenced by the origins of a manuscript, by the nationality, religious or political beliefs, gender or other characteristics of the authors, or by commercial considerations.
• declare all potential conflicting interests, seeking advice from the journal if they are unsure whether something constitutes a relevant interest.
